Well this promises to be interesting! I imagine a vampire and a plantsim co-habiting can't be very easy, it'll be interesting to see how that works.

Kyoshi seems like a nice guy, I hope he and Tamara will get on well. And I hope he'll be able to get some aspiration, too, poor guy.

That's a really odd problem with the job. I guess that just means Tamara will have to find other means to pay the bills.

Looking like a good start!

I hope it will be! They would have great difficulty maintaining a relationship, I would expect, since there is only a limited time they could interact.

Kyoshi does seem to be pretty cool. He and Tamara are getting along well so far, although they do have negative chemistry, so a romance is unlikely. Poor Kyoshi wanted the housewarming party to be a Great Party, but in the last thirty seconds it dropped back to Snoozer, and I couldn't figure out why or fix it. I'll make sure his aspiration gets back up soon, don't worry!

I suppose I could try getting Tamara a job from the paper; I haven't tried that yet. But Kyoshi has a good job, and Tamara could sell things, or blog using Monique's hacked computer. There are lots of options I haven't tried yet.

Thanks! And thanks for reading and commenting! :D

Okay, just getting a couple of things straight in my head:
Is Tamara's apartment downtown?
And it's not an AL apartment because you have a Mac, right?
Anyway, the challenge looks really interesting!

Correct on both counts. Tamara's apartment is downtown, next to the coffee shop (Benevolent Grounds) that's been there a while. The building is not an AL apartment building because of the Mac thing, but it was designed to look like an apartment building pre-AL (I downloaded it from MTS) and I have locked the doors to all but Tamara's apartment to stop visitors doing dumb things like gong into a different apartment to pee. I also have Inge Jones's key system for if I want to add more people to the building, which should provide a very apartment-like functionality.

So far the challenge is fun! Some of it depends on luck, though -- whether or not a Grand Vampire shows up when Tamara's out and about in the evenings, mostly. And I'm not sure if the indoor plants can get bugs. If they can't, there's a patio out back.

Thanks for reading and commenting! :D

I nearly missed this. So what is happening with Tamara and jobs? That doesn't sound good if she is already corrupted.
Is it the room mate who has to become a vampire? You will have to move him in as you can't control room mates. I think the plants should get bugs, but you will need lots of them.

I'm not sure what is happening with Tamara and jobs. I really hope it isn't corruption already! *hides, with fingers in ears going "lalalalalalalalalalanotTHINKINGaboutit!"*

I can control the roommate all I want, because I don't have Apartment Life! :P He's a townie that Tamara befriended online that I added to the family using the Sim Manipulator. The rest of the "apartments" are empty and all the doors locked. It doesn't matter who becomes the vampire and who the plantsim, as long as it's one of each. Right now, I'm shooting for Tamara as the vampire, but we'll see. Fingers crossed on the bugs!

of course you don't have AL. *slaps self*

You don't have to choose one to actually kill off do you? They could die of old age I guess.

Hey, no slapping allowed! It's summer and your brain is fried. :) No, the challenge runs until one or the other dies from natural causes. Could be old age, or disease, or the sun, or a satellite, or anything. Deliberately killing either or both is not required.

I would have your sim as the plantsim then as vampires usually die a nasty death from the sun. Talking of which, it certainly fried today-41C again! We got some rain and it's cooled down now. I really dislike January as it's always so hot. Kind of hard for you to imagine I bet, a hot January.

A hot January is hard to imagine, but I just pretend you're talking about July instead, and then I can understand, a little. I still have trouble imagine temperatures THAT hot, though. If it get's up to 38 here, people talk about it for weeks! I bet you have similar trouble imagining when I talk about twelve inches (30 cm) of snow.

I've only seen snow twice. Once when I was a teen I went on a teen camp and part of it was spent at the Snowy Mountains and we got to go tobogganing-and one girl broke her arm. :( The other time was also as a teen when we went to England at Christmas time to visit the relatives. Although that was more sludge then proper snow. So it's been over 20 years since I've seen snow and I don't remember how cold it was, but a lot colder than what I'm used to I'm sure.

With the heat it hits you like an oven when you open the door. We certainly aren't the hottest place, dh was saying some place got to 48C. Probably up north or inland.

Ooh, this sounds like a nice challenge!

I know I've said it before, but Tamara's so pretty. :) She would be a good vampire, but of course I'm biased and don't want her to lose the hair I retextured if she becomes a plantsim. :P

Ah, good thinking with the pre-AL-apartments, I'll make a note to try that out in my game when I eventually pick a neighbourhood to add a downtown to.

I love the housewarming party shot, it really looks like Tamara is the centre of attention and having a great time. :D

Probably a silly question, but have you checked that it's Tamara and not the computer or the lot that's causing the jobs glitch? Can Kyoshi get a job, and have you tried Tamara with a different computer?

It does look like fun! I'm looking forward to playing it through. It will also be quite challenging, because vampires and bugs (like aliens) know when you want them and resolutely stay away.

Tamara is indeed a very pretty Sim. She has good genetic material to work with, of course, and it's a flattering hairstyle. I'm thinking that she'd be more inclined towards vampirism, but we'll have to see how things play out.

Well, since I can't have AL, I have to find SOME way around the problem. And this is something the community has wanted from the beginning, so there are many workarounds to choose from. Locking the door works great for now; for later, if needed, I have Inge Jones's colored key system which seems to have the least amount of changes needed to work. (Although it's still a pretty meaty hack...)

Tamara and Kyoshi were both having a good time at the party, although it dropped from Good Time to Snoozer with 30 seconds left on the clock and I couldn't figure out why. The guests were all Kyoshi's friends, but Tamara is very Outgoing (9 or 10 points, I think) and loved meeting them all. The two bolts with the guy she went on a date with didn't hurt either. ;)

Tamara did have the problem on a different lot, with a different computer. I did some troubleshooting after writing this chapter, and the problem is actually Tamara's shirt. If I tell her to get a job while she's wearing it, the game crashes. If I tell her to get a job when she's wearing something else, boom, she's employed. I don't know whether to pull the shirt entirely or to simply change her clothes before she looks for a job. Kyoshi came with a very good job already (Celebrity Chef!), so I don't want to have him start over again at the bottom of the ladder.
