Re: townies, etc

Yes, that is correct, or mostly so. D001 does generate downtownies, who are supposed to populated downtown lots when your sim visits. I THINK that they show up in my main hood as well, but I have a couple of hacks allowing walkbys from subhoods that do not normally come to a main hood (like dormies), so that might be behavior resulting from the hack. Regardless, if they are not created, they can't show up anywhere.

Yes, by "Neighborhood file" I meant "Neighborhood.package file." I thought that would be clear, since it's the only actual FILE there (everything else is more folders or pictures not titles "Neighborhood") but I can adjust that to be clearer.

B001 generates Bluewater Village, Chester Gieke, the Larsons, Malcolm Landgraab, Florence Delarosa, and any other sim associated with Bluewater Village. (The Tinkers, I think, and the Ramirez family, and maybe a couple others?) I don't know if Bluewater Village comes with its own complement of townies or not. I believe the mere fact of it existing will allow bin sim creation, but will not automatically create more sims unless you deliberately add Bluewater Village to your main hood.

G002, E002, and F002 do indeed contain townies and special sims (F002 has hobby leaders, E002 has social group townies, and G002 has the Garden Club, I think).

However, the downtown subhood (D001) DOES contain townies as well as bin sims and special sims.

The vacation subhoods (A001, M001, T001, V001) DO contain sims: locals and special sims for the three vacation destinations, tourists and bin sims for V001.

The uni subhoods (U001, U002, and U003) DO contain dormies and professors, as well as bin sims, although the bin sims are only available in Uni.

I made a list in the instructions saying which has what -- are the lists not clear? How can I make them better?

You can leave in or take out any of those templates according to your personal preferences, *as long as you know that you will get the sims that are part of that template*! Personally, I leave in all three vacation destinations (A001, M001, and T001) plus E002 and F002 because getting the game to generate certain of the special features contained in each of those subhoods is a pain in the rear and I will accept the extra townies in exchange for not having to figure out how to make the Wise Old Man spawn or how to build my own Good Witch and Bad Witch headquarters and Hobby Lots. (I believe that Jawusa's stealth hoods will allow you to have the witch lots and the hobby lots without the extra townies and bin sims.) It's all a balancing act that depends on what effect you personally want.

Does that help? Can I provide further assistance as you get this figured out?

I will go ahead and generate townies once I have a hood going anyway -- but if you generate them yourself, you get many fewer than the game provides, and they are different every time.
