Re: Blank templates

It will stop the generation of any townies associated with the hood/subhood in question. So (for example) D001 has downtownies associated with it. No D001, none of the townies associated with it. But if you remove D001 but leave in N001, you will still get Goopy Gilscarbo. Does that make sense?

You keep referring to B002, but I'm afraid that I've never seen a B002 -- only ever a B001. If there is a difference between B001 and B002, I'm not aware of it. I'm sorry that I can't be more help with that particular issue! I've just never encountered it.

With B001 removed, I can attach a custom shopping district and build everything in it myself from scratch if I want to. The game will not generate special townies or NPCs just because I attached the custom shopping district. In contrast, when I attach a custom Uni, the game will always generate professors for each major. (If I remove the Uni templates, they won't always be the *same* professors, but there WILL be professors.) The game will also not remove NPCs that might otherwise be desirable. (For example, if I remove the Far East template, then there will be no Wise Old Man unless I deliberately go to some trouble to make the game generate one.) So because the game does not generate any new character files and does not omit any character files that are unique to that particular subhood, I say "nothing in particular happens." Does that make sense? Would there be a better way to phrase it so as to be less confusing?

No, you would not remove the whole Seasons folder. If you do that, you'll lose all the furniture and weather, and so on, which would be Not Good. The first path I gave was this: C drive > Program Files (x86) folder > EA GAMES folder > The Sims 2 Open For Business folder > TS Data folder > Res folder > Neighborhood Template folder > B001 folder > B001_Neighborhood file

What I was trying to communicate was that for the Seasons template, you'd go to C drive > Program Files (x86) folder > EA GAMES folder > The Sims 2 Seasons folder > TS Data folder > Res folder > Neighborhood Template folder > G002 folder > G002_Neighborhood file and for the BV template you'd go to the C drive > Program Files (x86) folder > EA GAMES folder > The Sims 2 Bon Voyage folder > TS Data folder > Res folder > Neighborhood Template folder > V001 folder > V001_Neighborhood file

Most people's eyes tend to glaze over when there's a long path like that, but I can (and will!) edit my original post to put in the full path for both, with the change highlighted somehow for clarity.

When I said "You can remove all of them, one of them..." what I meant was that you can remove D001 and leave all the others alone with no ill effects. You can remove D001 and V001 and leave all the others alone with no ill effects. You can remove U001 and U002 but leave U003 right where it is with no ill effects. (You'll get the U003 dormies in any custom Uni you build, but if that's what you want, that's not a problem.) You can mix and match according to your wants and needs, is what I meant. It's not all or nothing.

Your situation is a bit complicated for me because you have custom subhoods, which I have precisely zero experience with. Do any of them create sim bin sims?

Do those answers help clear things up even a little? Is there more that I can explain or make clearer for you? After I post this I will be sure to make that change to the file path information, but I will be more than happy to keep on helping to figure out and fix any other part of the instructions that isn't as helpful as it should be!
