Kitty Couderc, her mother.

TIRTHA: Laaaa. (strikes key, adjusts inside the piano, strikes key again) Laaaaaa. (nods in satisfaction as the notes match)
KITTY: What are you doing?
TIRTHA: Retuning the piano. (strikes a different key) Laaaaaa. (adjusts inside the piano, strikes key again) Laaaaaaa.
KITTY: The piano is already in tune.
TIRTHA: Last night, Nirel was being a real pixel when I was singing. “Listen to the piano,” he kept saying. “Listen to the piano – is that the same note?” Well, the next time he plays for me, it darn well will be. (adjusts inside the piano, strikes a different key) Laaaaaa.
